 Fossil Light

Fossil Light is my home-built 18" Dobsonian reflector which is use primarily for visual observing and sketching of deep sky objects at dark sky sites.

Visit the dedicated page to see links to various presentations which describe the building of this telescope.

 Mr.Orb Inspector

Mr.Orb Inspector is what I have jokingly nicknamed my home-built 222mm (8.75") Dobsonian reflector.

This scope was built to allow me to more easily observe from my home in St.Albans. It is this scope, when mounted on my equatorial platform, that I use to produce my planetary and ISS webcam images.

 Equatorial Platform

This is my home-built equatorial platform on which I mount the 222mm Dobsonian to allow me to do webcam imaging of planets.

Deceptivly simple to look at, it was tough to make and optimise for the application of hi-res planetary imaging.

Cameras

This section gives details of the cameras I use to produce the images on this website.

I currently have a mono Imaging Source high speed video camera and a Canon 500D digital SLR.

  Eyepieces and Accessories

This is a section that describes all the other bits and pieces I use to carry out my observing, sketching and imaging.

The page includes details of eyepieces, barlows, filters and my observing box.
